Safety first

Things to remember when arranging that first date

When arranging dates, use your common sense, and don't forget these simple rules. Some of these points may seem over-cautious, but if the person you meet is genuine, they will understand.

1/. Keep it public. Arrange meetings in public places (eg, restaurants, pubs, etc), not in your home.

2/. Keep your details to yourself. Don't give your address until you are sure that you want to continue the relationship.

3/. Trust your instincts and don't meet again if you have any doubts.

4/. Keep others informed. Leave details of your meeting with family or friends when seeing a respondent for the first time.

5/. Take a friend. If you feel nervous about going on a first date by yourself, why not see if you can arrange a double date with a friend? As well as being fun, you can get support from someone else and you can exchange ideas on picking a venue.
